This project required the replacement of a tern-coated copper “Yankee” gutter system, along with rafter tail replacement, and partial slate roof replacement.
The project entailed soldered gutter seams and fascia, custom millwork to replicate the original decorative rafter tails, and replacement of flashings. The rafter tails were cut back, and repaired using scarf-joinery, epoxy, and large stainless-steel pins.
The slate roofing was different on North/South and East/West elevations of the building and posed a challenge to match. Harper & Sons sourced salvaged slate roofing from other projects in the area, to properly blend with each of the different original types, and the results were outstanding.
To complete the project, the entire Train Station was cleaned and re-painted. This was accomplished just in time for the annual Town festive, which centers around the railway and train station.
