The Town had a unique challenge to re-purpose two existing, 20-year-old steel buildings at a time when steel costs and lead-times were at all-time highs. Harper & Sons, Inc was able to meet the challenge by tagging, disassembling, cleaning, painting, re-erecting the two buildings as one, at a site several miles away.
The project included re-calculating loads and re-designing the concrete foundations and slab to meet current codes. Harper & Sons, Inc retained the services of Becker Morgan Group to survey the existing buildings before disassembly, and the to complete the concrete design.
The finished, painted project now functions as the home for bulk storage site-related materials to enable the Town Department of Public Works to respond to utility emergencies in any weather with dry materials.
